Inertization
In particular applications (e.g. precision foundry, lost wax micro fusion) especially for certain special alloys, protecting the surface of the metal bath with a layer of liquid gas (Ar, N2) makes it possible effectively to reduce gas inclusion due to contaminants, reduce the formation of slag due to oxidation of the bath and the loss of important alloying elements (e.g. Ni, Ti, Co, Cr…) which makes corrections necessary. The production of waste due to defects in the resulting cost of finishing the castings is considerably reduced.
