Agricultural commodities
The use of carbon dioxide, a food additive E290, for the treatment of agricultural commodities, grain and dried fruits in general, aims to achieve greater food safety of the products processed, avoiding potentially toxic residues, thus respecting the environment.
The use of carbon dioxide, sometimes mixed with nitrogen, combats the development of parasites and also reduces the amount of mould and fungi present, removing the risks of toxins of vegetable origin such as mycotoxins and aflatoxins being produced.
The carbon dioxide can be applied using special autoclaves or directly in the silos, with adequate preparation of the storage and operating on the basis of a careful analysis of the product to treat.
